Glorifying Terrorism

a typeface by Feòrag

This font started off because I needed a couple of dingbats for a book I was laying out, then I got carried away. It features portraits of various terrorists and images related to terrorism. The book is Glorifying Terrorism, an anthology of original science fiction edited by Farah Mendlesohn. With an introduction by Andrew McKie of the Daily Telegraph, it features contributions by top UK SF writers Ian Watson, Gwyneth Jones, Ken MacLeod, and Charles Stross. The anthology highlights the flaws in recent UK government legislation that criminalises 'encouragement of terrorism'. You can buy a copy of it at Rackstraw Press.

Some of the people illustrated in this font were also chosen to highlight the flaws in the legislation. If you are wondering why I've included a particular respected world leader, religious figure, freedom fighter or champion of the underdog, it's because their actions mean they could be considered to be those of a terrorist. The Read Me includes a list of glyphs and links to more information, where relevant.
